View Vehicle Record – testing, testing, and more testing

On 27 November 2014 Ian Gallagher, Head of Policy at the Freight Transport Association (FTA) hosted a user testing session at the FTA offices in Leamington Spa.

Attending these sessions ensures we continuously capture user requirements for the new View Vehicle Record (VVR) enquiry service. They also allow DVLA to offer the registration certificate V5C on Demand service to fleet companies. As you know V5C on Demand will offer fleet operators the option of suppressing a V5C when they register a new vehicle via a motor dealer. DVLA will only issue a V5C when one is requested by the fleet operator or when the vehicle is going to be sold on.

VVR will allow fleet companies to register a vehicle and to hold back on the issue of a V5C at first registration if they choose to. Fleet companies will be able to view information on all their vehicles and request a V5C, when they need to, for vehicles in their fleet through this enquiry service.

During the day, 6 FTA member companies had an hour slot to share their views on DVLA’s vehicle services. They were able to use the interactive VVR service using dummy information.

We also took the time to demonstrate the new share driving licence service. This service will allow employers to check their employees’ driver data when the counterpart driving licence is abolished.

We appreciate FTA members taking the time to attend this session and providing us with their invaluable feedback. This feedback will be used to further improve our new services.

VVR will go into private beta in January 2015. This will be followed by public beta and the V5 on Demand service in March 2015.
