Salvage Code of Practise Update

Following articles in both our own and various other periodicals relating to the alleged Commercial Categorisation of Vehicle Salvage and indeed, arguably some details of the code itself that are in need of updating it is confirmed that the BVSF have offered their assistance to the ABI (this assistance has been accepted) in discussions relating to the Code and will be putting forward suggestions as and when requested.

The BVSF fully support that a Salvage Code of Practice is required and can see that the existing Code of Practice requires updating. It is the opinion of the BVSF that it is not wholly the code itself which is causing an issue but the interpretation of the code by other parties. Whether this is a lack of suitable training or deliberate misuse for financial gain is yet to be proven but the BVSF have now proven that miscategorisation is now rife and totally avoidable.

It should be noted that NO changes to the Salvage Code of Practice will be considered until after the issue of the VIC scheme is finally settled and sadly the discussions relating to VIC are still rumbling on at a high level.

All BVSF members will be kept fully up to date with information related to the above as and when it is available and rest assured the BVSF will do everything they can to obtain a suitable outcome for its members.
