The CARS Event.

CARS (Complete Auto recycling and Secondary Metals) was a unique, yard based show run by the industry for the industry, This event was hosted at Hills Salvage and Recycling Ltd in Skelmersdale, near Liverpool, in June 14th-16th 2012

The BVSF were represented at the CARS event and elsewhere within this article you can see images of the occasion. Manning the stand for the duration of the event was Roger West, BVSF Secretary General and Percy Snow of Snows Commercials ably assisted by Geoff Bridges of GW and G Bridges, Steve Hankins of HBC, Keith Loeber of Chase Autos, Jason Cross of FAB Recycling and Allen Prebble of Silverlake. A great deal of interest was made in the BVSF from both the UK and abroad as far away as Australia. Indeed an invite has been extended to the BVSF to visit both India and the USA to offer assistance each way and to exchange views on a variety of subjects. The actual running of the event was flawless and all credit should go the organising team of Chris Floate, Terry Charlton and the family and staff of Hills Recycling Ltd.

A good number of companies expressed considerable interest in joining the BVSF and it is hopeful that a number of applications will be received, it should be noted that in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Federation, despite requests to join at the show a formal application has to be made with various checks to complete to ensure that the companies that do wish to join the BVSF are of sufficient standing and meet the rigorous criteria, and rightly so.

A number of existing members were welcomed to the stand with a good chance for discussing a variety of subjects. The BVSF were invited to give a presentation to a considerable audience on the 2nd day of the event and the feedback received from this presentation was very good. The objectives of the BVSF were explained in detail along with the past successes, current workloads and indeed benefits of membership.

Bags adorned with the BVSF logo as well as T shirts, pens, mouse mats and key rings plus an ample supply of information packs and Salvage Professional magazines were all given away to interested parties and some not so interested ones !!

All in all it was an excellent PR job for the BVSF and thanks again to both the organisers and all those Committee members that assisted.
