Press Release IDS Dismantling system

International Dismantling Information System; the ELV treatment information system
To support Treatment Operators in the responsible handling of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV’s), the International Dismantling Information System (IDIS) provides all necessary environmental pre- treatment and dismantling information at any time. Access to IDIS is free of charge.
Since its initial launch in the early nineties by a consortium of the major European automotive manufacturers IDIS has grown into a comprehensive database comprising essential information for treating ELV’s. It provides a simple, ‘user friendly’ interface and navigation through a multilingual system that adapts displayed content to the region of use.
The system can be used in an office or on line in a workshop through an Internet connection or via DVD ROM.
Content can be printed through reporting functions as can supplementary printable manuals providing guidance for the treatment of:
Pyrotechnic devices
LPG/CNG equipped vehicles
Traction batteries used in Hybrid’s and EV’s
Air suspension
Today the IDIS consortium represents the majority of vehicle manufacturers; IDIS contains data from 62 car brands with more than 818 vehicle models and 1708 variants, covering 37 countries in 30 languages
The IDIS Database is continuously updated in order to provide the latest information on the newest vehicles (6 months after launch) including Hybrid and Electric Vehicles and development changes within all vehicles as new models come to market.
With this system, the IDIS Consortium provides Treatment Operators with the latest information available in order to promote the environmental and economic treatment of ELV’s.
